‘Lend Me A Tenor’ To Open at Levoy Theatre

A Tony Award-winning farce by Ken Ludwig, Lend Me A Tenor has it all—comedy, romance, more comedy, and not one but two Otellos! Presented by arrangement with Samuel French, the show will be performed Friday, October 17, at 8 p.m.; Saturday October 18, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, October 19, at 3 p.m.

Set in 1934, the farce centers around the visit of a world-famous Italian tenor to the Cleveland Grand Opera Company and the general manager’s assistant who mistakes the famous singer for dead—and then goes on his place.

Lend Me A Tenor premiered in 1986 and earned Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Play and Best Direction of a Play, five other Tony nominations, and a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Comedy of the Year.

OBSP’s veteran cast features Derek Davis as Max, Ginny Miles as Maggie, Walter Webster as Saunders, Dale Santangelo as Tito, Shannon Sheridan as Maria, Maura Jarve as Diana, MaryBeth Thierolf as Julia, and Jason Smith as the bellhop.
