September 8, 2015 — The Off Broad Street Players (OBSP) announced today the stellar cast of its final show of the 2015 season, Ragtime. The Tony Award-winning depiction of three parts of American society at the turn of the 20th century makes its Levoy Theatre debut November 6 through 15.
Among the show’s leads are OBSP newcomers Shayna Murray (Mother), Matthew Swank (Father), Bryan Pitt (Coalhouse), Lauryn Obozian (Sarah), Scott Armato (Tateh), and Holly Knapp (Evelyn). OBSP veterans Scott Bonerbo (Little Boy), Andrew Jarema (Younger Brother), Richard Curcio (Grandfather), Ammi Post (Little Girl), and Shannon Sheridan (Emma) round out the principle characters.
The show’s ensemble is also a mix of talented newcomers and returning OBSP members. Dennis Badurina, Jim Dennis, Tiara Campbell, Dioana Gayle, Nerys Muller, Destiny Riley, Christian Claudio, Julie Didomenico, and Marisa Helene Mast will make their OBSP debuts in Ragtime. Rachel Burghen, Chris Crumb, Lena Dougherty, J.P. Gray, David Halter, Brianna Lund, Amanda Merrigan, Pam Morris, LilyBelle Morris, Domonic Barnes, Kyra Janae Bryant, Jared DeShields, Andre Jones, Aaron Pope, Raven Stewart, Catherine Taylor, Skylar Galati, Shaun Laurencio, Jacob Maldonado, Joyce Massey, Danielle Shapiro, and Kameron Solorzano will all return for the latest OBSP offering.
Together, they’ll bring to life the people of three historical groups – African Americans in Harlem, well-to-do suburbanites, and dream-filled immigrants – whose lives intersect in a cacophony of racial tension and class divide set to the sounds of the newborn musical genre called ragtime.
Performances will be held Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m.; Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, November 15, at 3 p.m.
