Deadline to apply is April 30th

The Off Broad Street Players Performing Arts Scholarship is a scholarship near and dear to the members of Off Broad Street Players. The history behind the scholarship, its significance, and why we offer it are expounded upon below.

The Off Broad Street Players Performing Arts Scholarship better known as The Matthew J. Mixner Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 award presented by the Off Broad Street Players each year to an OBSP high school senior who plans to further their education in the theatrical arts, including not only drama and theatre, but production, music and all other aspects of theatre.

This scholarship is offered in memory of OBSP member, Matt Mixner who touched the lives of each and every individual that he met. His enthusiasm for all aspects of theatre, music, stage direction, and production are all a continued inspiration for our youth. Matt tragically lost his life during the run of OBSP’s production of Mame in Nov. 2005.

2017 applications for interested seniors are available by emailing OBSP Vice President, Derek Davis, at

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of completed application, letters of reference, a high school transcript, and an interview before the OBSP Scholarship selection committee.

Requirements for applicants include the following:
